“Support” – large scale pastel drawing from my TOUCH series
It can be a new place we just rented or bought. We start thinking how to arrange all the stuff we have got there or our mind just wonders what to improve or change at the place we are currently living in. How to reorganize things better. Make the place look nicer. It’s natural. I guess. Sometimes we have the need for a change, for an improvement of the environment around us. We just want a nice, comfortable, perfect home for us and our closest ones.
“The art that stays at your home is the art which somehow connects and talks to you every time you look at it in a way you like. “
The word “home” can represent for each of us slightly different things, depends on our situation and priorities in our life but one thing it has common for all of us. It’s the place where we want to feel nice and comfortable. A safe place where we relax and are (can be) who we really are.
So now when we moved all the furniture on it’s new “right” place or have decided about another change(s) of the interior. We usually think about a decoration then. And about the walls as last.
Or maybe we feel better to keep the walls clean. But at most homes or at any commercial place as a hotel room or reception. Wherever we look there is an art on walls. We know it belongs to any interior. But most people usually think about an wall art as about the last thing to think of when it comes to interior decoration and designing of the place.
It’s mostly the moment when they are finished with the interior design and then they look again at the place to maybe tweak a little bit something and they find the walls too empty.
Well, not all of us are like that. And personally I am not. Art is an important part of my life. And it’s not just because I am an artist, I believe.
“Out of Sight” from Blue Velvet series – private home
I like modern interiors, clean looking. Big open spaces. Filled with a big amount of light. That’s my personal taste if I could choose or say. But most importantly I like to be surrounded with at least couple of things at my home which have some meaning for me. Personal meaning. Things which remind me a moment or a particular period of my life. Things which can evoke inside of me “something” always when I look at it. They can trigger a smile on my face or a thinking of things happening in my life. Or a memory.
And the art I create is exactly like that. As I believe art should be like that.
Some people might see an art just as a picture. A nice one or they just don’t like it. But most of my friends, my clients and people I meet and talk to usually start thinking differently about the art at their home and in general then. And I am really glad for that as I believe an art at your home should be personal to you.
Let me explain why.
There are obviously different groups of people out there with different opinions and taste when it comes to art. But everyone likes art. And when people are looking for an art for their home or other place they own. Art print or custom made art.
They all want obviously somethings nice which will fit aesthetically to the rest of their interior. Something they will love to look at. And that’s all right. It’s a wall art. But then when we talk and they start imagining it as a real part of their home which they will look at, precisely will have to look at every day in their living room or bedroom, they understand it is really not easy decision and it can’t be chosen just as a nice picture.
Let me ask. How often do you change your desktop wallpaper on your computer or a wallpaper on your phone? Yes. That’s right. It is so easy to get fed up even from a really beautiful picture very shortly. And you definitely don’t want to buy an art which you will become hating and then move it to a basement or throw it away soon or later.
So then when we talk further with my clients they understand how important the art at their home is and there is nothing like “choose wisely” or “be sure you really like it”. It is just not enough. I believe.
The art that stays at your home is the art which somehow connects and talks to you every time you look at it in a way you like. It communicates a story you know. And maybe only you know. It evokes emotions or feelings that mean something to you. Only then it becomes a real part of your home which will remain there.
“Desire” a photo realistic drawing from Touch series.
We live in a busy time. We have our duties and responsibilities. And we are somewhere at some point of our life journey. And no matter if it’s going to be a moment when you come home after a long tiring day today or you are just waking up in the morning now. When you look at the wall(s) and the art at your home you want to see there a story you relate to or something that “understands” and you understand and it connects with you even that just for a second in that moment… gives you companion and the just so important and right feel of home.
So if you are in front of a decision or you are having a dilemma which art you should buy. Don’t forget. Art can be much more than just a nice picture. It is just up to you to chose and look after an art which “talks” to you or as I do it with my clients. Choose a custom made art as it should be “custom made” not just by dimensions or style but should always in some way or another be personal to you and communicate a message, a story. Your story.
Let me know as always what you think and what are your favorite artworks that talk to you.
