When I started drawing this series I wanted to express moments in different times of our life. Those crossroads and important milestones. Upsides and downsides. Both as that’s what life is about.
We go through our life and walk consciously and subconsciously through with our experiences. Every day. There are still there along with us. So today, tomorrow and the day after and so on it all together makes us who we are. I believe you would agree with me in this.
We grow and develop our believing in things and people. We learn from our mistakes and try not to do them again and we cherish in our memories happy moments.
Then I believe we always have in every moment or situation and time in our life that kind of importance, a priority, that important thing which drives us that direction we are currently going and thinking. But It can change tomorrow it can change tonight or right now. There are just understandings and decisions still processing things inside us which makes us to do things or not to do things. It is just all about what we want in that moment from our life. It can drive us to do incredible things or not. But it is just sometimes stronger than us and not based on some rational thinking about what is right or not.
Yes it’s called feelings. Which can confuse us as it’s not sometimes / usually on the same line as our brain but it can also show us the right way. If we listen.
And at the end of the day. It’s our life so there should be no regrets. As I believe we should listen ourselves and do what we feel.
“Islands series is about those different moments and different understandings of priorities as we go through our life. I call them Islands… “
Islands series is very special to me when it comes to style and technique I used as I decided for water colours and I really tried to create it as a light romance between all those feelings and milestones in life of these women and wanted to use extraordinary tones. I used as a medium mid grained handmade water colour paper imported from Germany and decided to use just two tones of colours which would represent and communicate that care about those experiences.
At the end of the night full of experiments I decided to use a combination of Quinacridone violet and Dumont’s Blue in their lightest tones possible as these colours are in their nature from manufacturer quite strong and vibrant but very beautiful indeed.
I used Quinacridone violet colour in a predominance to give to these paintings very light flourish feel of romance with a touch of mystery.
Almost like an orchid.
At least that is what these colours represent to me in their light variations.
Well, you tell me if you like it. 🙂
These are now also available as limited edition prints here.
